Bury Town get back to winning ways to secure another three points

Bury Town climbed back up to third in the league with a win against Grays Athletic at the Denny Bros Stadium. Bury had the best of the early chances. On 4 minutes Bury were on the attack with Ollie Hughes going on a run and playing a ball in to the box for Cemal Ramadan but Grays 'keeper Danny Sambridge read the play well and was out to make the interception. Hughes made a chance for himself on 11 minutes, getting down the wing and into the box but his shot went a just wide of the far post. On 24 minutes Lounes Foudil showed skill to chest the ball down and turned towards goal and found Hughes in the box but his shot sailed high over the bar. A minute later Ramadan took down a high ball with a deft touch and found Hughes with a great pass but his shot wide of the far post. Bury made the breakthrough on 43 minutes with a cross into a crowded box which went to Ollie Fenn who cleverly hit a low shot past everyone, and the ball slowly crossed the goal line to give Bury a narrow lead going into the break.

Half Time: Bury Town 1 Grays Athletic 0

Second half it was Grays who had the early chances. On 52 minutes Tony Stokes hit a powerful strike from distance which went just wide of the far post. On 59 minutes Grays had another good chance from close range but a superb clearance from Joe Hood saved a certain goal for Grays as he belted the ball up-field. Ross Crane had a golden opportunity to score for Bury on 63 minutes, a ball into the box found Crane unmarked and with time to compose himself but he shot high over the bar. Substitute Cruise Nyadzayo broke forward for Bury on 72 minutes and played a good low pass into the box but a good clearance from Jeremy Arthur ended the move. On 74 minutes Carlos Edwards twisted and turned his way in to the box for Bury but was crowded out at the last second by two defenders and the ball was cleared. On 79 minutes Gray should have drawn level with Tony Stokes in on goal and hitting a powerful strike from close range which saw Bury 'keeper George Bugg make an exceptional save. Bury were looking more and more dangerous in front of goal as the game went on and on 87 minutes Bury went two goals up. Ross Crane went on a run to the edge of the box and showed great awareness to find Cemal Ramadan who hit a beautiful strike past Danny Sambridge and into the bottom corner of the net. Grays Athletic pulled a goal back on 94 minutes from a Steve King header from a corner, but it was too late to have much impact on the game and Bury took the win.
