Bury Town fight back to overturn two goal half time deficit

Bury Town put in a good shift on an unforgiving pitch which was borderline playable to gain a point from their first ever visit to Hullbridge Sports. Bury started the game fast with a succession of attacks and corners but it was Hullbridge who struck first. With the Bury defence in disarray, a cross into the box was met by the head of Joseph Wright who was unmarked and opened the scoring for the home side on 7 minutes. Two minutes later Hullbridge went two goals up. A cross field ball found Wright again unmarked on the far side of the pitch and he was in on goal, Bury keeper Daniel Barden was out quick to intercept but Wright put the ball past him and in to the net. Bury pulled a goal back on 24 minutes with Jake Chambers Shaw putting the ball in to Ollie Hughes in the box and Hughes shot was cleared off the goal line but after the ball had crossed the line and the linesman gave the goal. On 28 minutes Hughes was robbed of his second goal by a very poor decision. Hughes came from behind the last defender and went on to score only to be ruled offside. Things got worse for Bury on 45 minutes when Kieran Bishop took advantage of more disjointed defending from Bury and a loose ball in the box was tapped home.

Half Time: Hullbridge Sports 3 Bury Town 1

Bury showed their determination throughout the second half as they pressed forward at every opportunity. On 50 minutes Jake Chambers Shaw put a corner in to the box and Alex Henderson headed just wide of the far post. On 53 minutes Ollie Hughes went past three defenders and got in to the box but had his shot blocked. Hullbridge had a chance on 55 minutes with a long ball from Gregory Frederick which found Timothy Monsheju on the wing and he drove on into the Bury box but a superb tackle from Tommy Smith gave the possession back to Bury. Bury were awarded a penalty on 59 minutes after the advancing Ryan Stafford was fouled in the box and Cemal Ramadan stepped up to pull another goal back for Bury. Two minutes later the game was level. A mix up in the box between Hullbridge keeper Lewis Greene and Matthew Rose saw the ball break loose to Cruise Nyadzayo who showed quick thinking to pounce on the loose ball and slotted it home to equalise. Bury had a chance to pull in front on 63 minutes with Ross Crane going one on one with the keeper but his shot was saved by the foot of Greene. An incredible come back from Bury saw the points shared at the final whistle and Blues never give up attitude was there to be seen by all.
