Bury Town stay fourth but Sudbury take the win in local derby

Bury Town suffered a defeat at the hands of local rivals AFC Sudbury. Bury started the game on the attack with Ross Crane shooting wide from inside the box on 5 minutes. On 12 minutes Ollie Hughes got wide down the wing and found Crane again in the box but again he shot wide. Cemal Ramadan got down the wing for Bury on 19 minutes and showed good skill to turn two defenders inside out as he worked the ball in to the box but was tripped up but the referee decided it was not a penalty. A minutes later Lounes Foudil showed some silky skills as he worked the ball to the edge of the box but shot just to high as the ball went over the bar. On 25 minutes Bury had another chance to open the scoring with Foudil getting into the box and finding Crane but his shot was blocked. Against the run of play Sudbury took the lead on 26 minutes Reece Harris was in on goal and Bury keeper George Bugg came out to close him down but was left stranded as Harris went around him to score into the empty net. Bury had a great chance to equalise on 28 minutes with Joe Hood hitting a powerful strike which saw Sudbury keeper Paul Walker pull off a great one handed save. On 38 minutes Bugg made a superb triple save from Tom Maycock to keep Bury in the game going in to the second half.

Half Time: AFC Sudbury 1 Bury Town 0

Bury had everything to play for second half and on 50 minutes had a chance to pull level with Ross Crane putting a free kick which was deflected into the path of Ollie Hughes at the far post, but his low strike was saved by Walker. Sudbury went two goals up on 52 minutes with an incredible goal scored direct from a corner. Callum Harrison whipped the ball in to the box and beat everyone as it hit the far post and went into the back of the net. Sudbury were now in control of the game as Bury struggled to make anything work in front of goal. On 61 minutes Crane got into the box but shot wide. On 63 minutes Cruise Nyadzayo got into the box for Bury but a tame shot was easy for Walker. On 70 minutes Crane played a great through ball to Nyadzayo but he chose to side foot his shot with power put the ball sailed high over the bar.
On 76 minutes Sudbury killed the game off with their third goal. A good cross into the box was headed home by an unmarked Kyle Cassell from close range. Sudbury took the win which never looked in doubt after their second goal. As for Bury they still hold on to fourth place in the league but with their injury list growing all the time have been struggling of late to keep pace with the top teams.
