Bury drop down to fifth as Tilbury take over fourth place

Bury lose more ground in the league with another defeat. Most of the early play went the way of Tilbury. On 11 minutes Ola Ogunwamide took a shot from distance for Tilbury which went just over the bar. Bury had a free kick in a dangerous position on 16 minutes but Cemal Ramadan sent the ball high over the bar. On 18 minutes Tilbury took the lead. David Knight got down the wing and played a low ball into the box and Thomas Barton sneaked around the back of the Bury defence to tap in the opening goal. Bury pulled level on 21 minutes after soon good build up play from the Blues Ryan Jolland picked up the ball outside the box and hit a beautiful curling strike past the keeper and into the back of the net. Bury had a great chance to go in front on 28 minutes when a high ball over the top and into the box was held up brilliantly by Ollie Hughes and he found Jolland running in on goal but his strike was saved by the foot of Tilbury keeper Harry Aldridge. On 31 minutes Tilbury were awarded a soft penalty and David Knight scored from the spot. Daniel Barden made a great save for Bury on 34 minutes after a decent shot from Knight. Bury had a good chance to pull level again on 36 minutes with Hughes on the wing and crossing the ball in the path of Ramadan who put the ball wide from close range.

Bury came out on the attack second half. On 47 minutes Jake Chambers Shaw tested the keeper and the loose ball saw Ollie Hughes flick the ball over the keeper but the ball fell just wide of the far post. On 55 minutes Ryan Stafford but a good cross into the box for Hughes but he headed the chance straight at a defender who cleared the ball. On 60 minutes Bury had another free kick in a dangerous area and Lounes Foudil shot just wide of the far post. On 76 minutes Tilbury had a chance to extend their lead with Ryan Mallett shooting at the near post but a great stop from Daniel Barded sent the ball out of play. A powerful free kick to Tilbury on 76 minutes saw David Knight hit the bar. On 85 minutes Brian Moses broke forward and when on a run in to the Bury box only to run out of space and shoot into the side netting. Bury kept attacking until the end but they could not find away through the Tilbury defence. Tilbury took the win and took over fourth place in the league from Bury as the Blues now slip down in to the last playoff place in fifth.
