Heybridge Swifts (A)

Another defeat sees Bury slip down to fourth in the league

It was an uphill struggle for Bury for most of this game with Heybridge having most of the chances in front of goal. On 5 minutes Evans Kouassi put a cross in to the Bury box but Harrison Chatting shot wide. Colin Oppong fought well to get into the box for Bury on 9 mi9nutes and found Cemal Ramadan but his shot was cleared. Heybridge were on the attack again on 15 minutes with a great cross into the box for Alex Teniola who hit the bar. A powerful drive down the wing and in to the Bury box from Kouassi on 24 minutes was stopped by a superb tackle from Alex Henderson to end the danger. Another good tackle from Will Gardner for Bury three minutes later stopped Odei Martin-Sorondo from scoring for Heybridge. Ramadan got lucky for Bury on 30 minutes when a loose ball broke to him and he lifted the ball over the keeper, but the defence were back on the goal line to clear the ball upfield. A late chance in the half for Bury saw Ross Crane find Ryan Stafford in the box but he could only shoot straight at Heybridge keeper Luca Collins who made an easy catch.

Half Time: Heybridge Swifts 0 Bury Town 0

Heybridge started the second half as they finished the first and it was not long before they made one of their many attacks count. On 48 minutes Evans Kouassi left everyone for dead as he powered down the wing and cut inside to the box and hit a low drive into the bottom corner to give Heybridge the lead. Kouassi was in the action again on 61 minutes getting to the edge of the Bury box but shooting inches over the bar. Heybridge had the ball in the net again on 63 minutes only to be ruled offside. On 71 minutes a long ball into the far post was just too long for Alex Teniola to head in. The introduction of Cruise Nyadzayo from the bench for Bury saw them get more involved-up front and on 74 minutes Nyadzayo got into the box and hit a good strike which Collins did well to save. On 78 minutes Nyadzayo again got into the box and found Ross Crane but some quick responsive action from the defence denied Bury an Equalizer. Heybridge stood firm and took a deserved win at the final whistle, as for Bury they had to suffer another defeat and drop down t5he table to fourth.
