Bury Town defeated but finish the season on a high

In form Bury Town’s storming five game winning streak ended in defeat at Promotion hopefuls Heybridge Swifts. The visitors took the lead early on with Jayden Randell scoring after just 6 minutes. On 10 minutes Heybridge went close to making it two nil when Daniel Walker hit the post. Bury continued to play in their attacking style and inform Emmanuel Machaya pulled Bury level on 12 minutes with a cool finish low from distance which was beyond keeper Chris Haigh. On 19 minutes Bury won a free kick just outside the box and Ryan Jolland put the ball in to the box, Joe Claridge made the clearance close to goal. On 29 minutes a corner for Heybridge saw Tobi Adeyemi put the ball just wide of the far post. Kreshnic Krasniqi broke in to the Bury box on 31 minutes but a well-timed challenge from Kyran Clements cleared the ball. Heybridge regained the lead on 38 minutes Abouhadje (Evans) Kouassi taking advantage of a loose ball close to goal and getting a foot in to poke the ball in to the back of the net. A well taken free kick for Bury on 41 minutes by Machaya had Haigh saving at full stretch in the top corner to keep the ball out. Just before the break Krasniqi again broke in to the Bury box and hit a low powerful strike which Bury keeper Luis Tibbles was equal to has he made a good stop.

Heybridge had the first chance of the second half with Elliott Pinto shooting from distance which went just over the bar on 48 minutes. Ryan Horne put a good ball in to the box for Bury on 51 minutes which found Jake Chambers Shaw but a solid block from Nick Brown cleared the ball. A free kick for Bury a minutes later was hit just wide of the near post by Chambers Shaw. On 62 minutes Heybridge won a free kick wide on the wing and Brown whipped the ball across the face of the Bury goal but with no one close enough following in the chance was gone. Heybridge had the ball in the net on 66 minutes only to be ruled out for offside. Tanner Call showed good skill on the edge of the box and tried to find a ball to Emanuel Machaya, but the defence read the play well and cleared the ball upfield. A superb through ball from Emmanuel Osei-Owusu sent Abouhadje (Evans) Kouassi on his way in to the box and one on one with Luis Tibbles, the Bury keeper saw out quick to make a great block save on 82 minutes. Bury finish the season in great form and for Heybridge they take a good win and good form into the play offs.
