Bury Town’s impressive run of results continued with a win over Gorleston which now takes their tally to fourteen games unbeaten.

Gorleston proved a tough nut to crack as they defended well, but three second half goals from Bury Town saw them continue their unbeaten run to 14 matches stretching back to mid November.
Bury started the game on the attack with Ed Upson putting a good ball into the box for Cemal Ramadan on 9 minutes but his shot was deflected wide of the mark. From the corner Lewis Johnson cleared the ball from his goal line to deny Bury the opening goal.
Gorleston then began to shut Bury down quickly and the attacking chances began to appear for the home side. On 19 minutes Ismael Fatadjo went on a run deep into the Bury half before he was stopped in the box by the Bury defence.
On 21 minutes Dominic Docherty got down the wing to put a cross into the Bury box but Adam Tann put his shot over the bar. On 27 minutes Kieran Higgs went past his marker and went on a run at goal before Lewis O’Malley got back to make a superb challenge to stop the shooting chance.
On the half hour Gorleston had another chance when Jacek Zielonka got forward to put a cross into the box but Kieran Higgs headed the ball well wide of the target.
Bury went on the attack on 39 minutes with Ed Upson playing a long ball out to Max Maughn out on the wing but the defence reacted quickly to shut to move down. On 40 minutes another Bury attack saw the ball half cleared and fell to Ed Upson who shot from distance but the ball went over the bar. Gorleston’s best chance of the game came on 42 minutes when Max Maughn was on hand to clear the ball off the goal line and kept the game goalless at half time.

The game continued to play out with both defences on top second half. On 47 minutes Gorleston had an early chance when Ismael Fatadjo saw a chance but sent his volley over the bar.
Fatadjo had another chance on 50 minutes but this time he chipped the ball over the bar and he was proving a handful for Bury as on 58 minutes he had another chance but his soft effort on goal was easy for Bury 'keeper Charlie Beckwith to collect.
Gorleston were going toe to toe with Bury until on 74 minutes when Bury made the breakthrough. Max Maughn was quickest to react to a cross into the box which broke loose close to goal and he gave Bury the lead.
On 88 minutes Gorleston almost pulled level when Dominic Docherty effort on goal was heading in before Charlie Beckwith made a superb save to keep Bury in front.
Max Maughn then turned provider on 91 minutes when his cross into the box was headed home by Ethan Mayhew. Maughn also had a hand in Bury Town’s third goal too when he went on a run from out on the wing to inside to box before he was brought down.
A penalty was given and Luke Brown scored from the spot on 93 minutes.
After a long spell without a game Bury took their time to get their momentum back up to speed but their patient paid off as they took the win at the final whistle to move back up to 3rd place in the league.
