Bury got themselves back on track with an improved performance over Witham Town

Bury Town did not take long to make their mark on the game when they took an early lead through Luke Brown who put his strike from distance on 10 minutes in off the far post.
On 12 minutes a moment of magic from Jose Santa De Le Paz saw him trick his way past two players and put a good ball into Brown on the edge of the box but a good challenge from the defence got the ball clear.
With 14 minutes on the clock Luke Brown had another chance as he tried to shape his shot to the far post, but the 'keeper made the catch. Bury found the woodwork on 18 minutes when a blistering strike from Ethan Mayhew pulled an excellent one handed save from Aamarildo Oekrezi who put the ball off the far post and out for a corner.
Bury looked purposeful with every attack they made as Witham struggled to keep the home side out. Bury then doubled their lead on 23 minutes when a quick attack saw Jose Santa De Le Paz power through into the box before a shove in the back from Joe Alatise sent him to ground in the box and Luke Brown sent the 'keeper the wrong way to score from the spot.
Santa had another chance to get on the score sheet on 36 minutes when he got into the box, but his shot was cleared off the line by Freddy Tandon but the loose ball fell to Ed Upson who scored with an excellent strike to give Bury Town a 3-0 lead going into the break.

With Witham Town using all three of their substitutes at the start the second half turned out to a more even affair. On 55 minutes Witham broke forward with Jeffrey Cobblah getting into the box but some superb defensive cover from Ollie Fenn denied him the chance to shoot.
On 61 minutes Cobblah tried to break down the wing but an excellent sliding tackle from Aaron Okpolokpo stopped him in his tracks.
Luke Brown got into the box for Bury on 62 minutes and found Ed Upson with a good pass, but the defence got an important challenge in to win the ball back. On 80 minutes Witham sent a good ball into the box for Darus Ghinea who shot on target but Bury 'keeper Charlie Beckwith made a good save.
On 82 minutes Luke Brown tried a shot from distance for Bury but could only watch as the ball sailed well wide of the target.
Bury were back on the attack on 85 minutes with Max Maughn tearing down the wing to put a cross into the box for Louis Arnold who then sent a short pass out to Ryan Horne just outside the box but he shot wide of the mark.
Bury took the win at the final whistle but also just as important they managed to keep their first clean sheet in six games and now have something to build on as they look to climb the league table.
