Bury Town FC have undertaken another green and environmentally friendly initiative with the installation of solar panels on the clubhouse roof.
West Suffolk Council (WSC) introduced this initiative to West Suffolk businesses, and following a survey, made a proposal to the club to install 28 panels to the front & back of our clubhouse roof.
The key features include:
• Free solar panels and free installation (estimated Council investment of £9,000)
• The system will generate approximately 9000 kWh of electricity
• The Football Club will buy renewable (daytime) electricity from the council
• Annual CO2 savings of 2 tonnes
West Suffolk Council said "The benefits to Bury Town Football Club will be financial, environmental and reputational and we are pleased that another business in West Suffolk is taking action to reduce their carbon footprint and becoming more environmentally friendly”
The Blues Commercial Manager Stephen Jarrold said “This project continues our ongoing commitment to be as Green as possible following the major installations of new energy efficient floodlighting four years ago and the installation of our own bore hole last summer which means that all our pitch irrigation water comes directly from the ground and is sustainable"
“The addition of the solar panels means not only will the club be powering itself through the sunlight during the day, the panels will also be putting power back into the grid for the benefit of others. We are very pleased to be working with West Suffolk Council on this excellent scheme”
