Blues Development side draw 1-1 at Witham Town

Bury Town Under 23's picked up their first point of the season after two opening defeats with a 1-1 draw at Witham Town's Spa Road on Wednesday evening.

The first half was very even with little goalmouth action for either side. Bury were forced into an early change when Sam Nunn had to be replaced by Under 18's player Ethan Heap and this saw a shuffle in the backline. The game sprung into life just a minute after half time when Charlie Cook opened the scoring for Bury with a shot from distance that beat Witham 'keeper Michael Bett all ends up and flew into the roof of the net.
The lead lasted for 14 minutes as Witham were allowed too much time and space around the edge of the box and Connor Harbridge scored with a simple shot into the bottom corner past Bugg. Bury then found themselves down to 10 men when Charlie Cook was sin binned for dissent towards the assistant referee, presumably frustrated by a number of poor and erratic decisions from the match officials.
The final half hour of the match was very open and both sides had chances to win the game, George Bugg making an outstanding one on one save. At the other end, Bury missed numerous chances to add a second goal. Substitute Harry Brown was brought down in the box in the final minute of injury time with a clear foul, but the referee decided to book him for diving instead of giving the correct decision.

Final Score: Witham Town 1 Bury Town 1
