Three second half goals enough as Blues defeat Greenwich - By Drew Kendall

Bury Town had the first shot of the game on 2 minutes, as Machaya's long range effort was blocked. The Bury striker was then set through on goal on 8 minutes, but the defence crowded around him to block the shot. Two minutes later, Bury won a corner on the right, which was headed by Porter at the near post but was saved by the keeper. The second corner saw Fenn head it on at the near post, as Brown hit the crossbar at the far post, from close range. On 14 minutes, Greenwich won a corner, as their shot from long range on the right was deflected over the bar. Brown and Kennedy then linked up well, passing the ball around nicely in midfield on the right, but the former's low shot went just wide off the far post. Greenwich then went for goal on the left, but fired over the near post on 20 minutes. ‬

‪Greenwich then went close on 22 minutes, as their 20-yard strike smacked the bar with Fenn heading the rebound behind to safety. Six minutes later, Greenwich again went for goal on the right, but was saved down well down to his right by Bugg. On 37 minutes, Machaya went for goal from distance, after seeing the keeper off his line. ‬

‪However, his shot towards the top right corner was catching practice for Greenwich's keeper, soon followed by a low Bury shot going straight to the keeper on 39 minutes. Then on the verge of half-time, the visitors No.9 shot wide off Bugg's left post from 25-yards, as the two sides went into the break level. ‬

Half Time: Bury Town 0 Greenwich Borough 0

A minute into the second half, Robinson's free kick on the right wing was met by the head of Porter at the far post but was just wide off the right post. Greenwich then had a shot at goal on the right, on 50 minutes, but was fired over the near post. A minute later, the visitors fired over the top right corner from 20-yards as the game remained goalless. On 53 minutes Greenwich fired a low 18-yard strike straight at Bugg, which was soon followed by Revell's 20-yard strike being blocked two minutes later. The Young Blues then took the lead on the hour-mark, as Ince's free-kick in the box on the right was headed by Porter at the far post. Unfortunately for the centre-back, the ball came back into play off the right post but fell kindly for Robinson to pass into the net. Two minutes later, the goalscorer then fed Machaya on the right inside the box who whose shot was deflected behind for a corner. The same happened again, but on the other side of the box on 67 minutes.

This time though, the keeper was off his line well to get down and palm the shot behind the near post, with Revell heading a cross in from the left wide at the far post a minute after. Greenwich went for goal on the left edge of the box, but was easily stopped by the foot of the standing Bugg at his far post on 70 minutes. With 15 minutes remaining, Greenwich's low shot from outside the home penalty area went wide off the right post.

Josh Revell then doubled the hosts lead on 76 minutes, as the winger's low effort found the bottom right corner from the edge of the box, despite the keeper getting a hand to it. With ten minutes remaining, Machaya was hauled back in the box, as his chipped shot was deflected over the bar with a goal-kick the decision. Bury though went 3-0 up on 82 minutes, as a superb free-kick from Tommy Robinson on the right edge of the box, audaciously curled over the wall and perfectly into the top right corner to seal the points for Bury.

The visitors didn't give up on a consolation though, as they fired over the bar from close range on the right on 83 minutes, before they then headed a ball in from the left wide from the far post a minute later. The visitors then had the final two chances of the afternoon, as the first was shot over the top near corner, on the right with 2 minutes to play, as the second was fired wide off the left post as the match entered stoppage time.
