Bury Town rack up another three points in Velocity Trophy group stages

With both teams resting players this tie was unpredictable to call but a fluid performance from Bury Town saw them take the points. Bury's game flowed all over the pitch with everyone playing their part. On 8 minutes Emmanuel Machaya set up Ryan Jolland to give Bury their first good chance but a soft shot was easy to collect for Coggeshall 'keeper Matt Walker. Ryan Stafford broke in from the wing on 11 minutes for Bury and went on into the box before his shot was blocked. Colin Oppong was in on the 'keeper from a cross in from Jarid Robson on 18 minutes and Walker jumped the highest to make the catch. Bury were in control and attacking at will and on 24 minutes won a penalty for handball from an unlucky Jordan Foster, the ball hitting his arm as he was on the ground. Emmanuel Machaya stepped up and chipped the ball just out of reach of Walker and just under the bar to give Bury the lead. Machaya was in the right place at the right time on 36 minutes to grab his and Bury Town's second goal. Oppong broke forward and found Machaya in the box, Walker rushed out and made a block but Machaya powerful strike defected off Walkers foot then went under him and into the empty net.

Half Time: Bury Town 2 Coggeshall Town 0

Bury were in no mood to let up second half and just three minutes after the break Colin Oppong showed a cool head and soft touch to put Bury 3-0 up. Oppong got on the end of a great through ball and hit a well taken shot past the 'keeper and into the far corner. Ryan Stafford went on a run down the wing and into the box for Bury on 55 minutes and put an inviting ball across the face of goal begging for anyone to get a touch, but the ball ended up going out of play. On 70 minutes Ryan Horne played the perfect cross in to the box which went straight to the feet of Oppong, but the ball stuck under hit feet and the defence got in the clearance. Charlie Cook came off the bench and got a chance on 81 minutes. Finding a bit of space for himself Cook hit a venomous strike from distance which had Walker diving to put the ball out for a corner. On 88 minutes Under 18's striker Amin Mohammed also came off the bench and had a great opportunity to put Bury further in front when he got on the end of a ball over the defence and into the box but a great save from Walker denied the Bury youngster. Bury took the points at the final whistle and with lots of good individual performances for Bury all over the pitch it was a great be team performance that won this match.
