Injury time equalizer cost Bury all three points

Bury had to settle for just one point after a late injury time equalizer. Heybridge had a chance to take the lead on 5 minutes with Emmanuel Osei-Owusu getting into the box but a good block save from Bury keeper George Bugg from point blank range kept the game level. Bury took the lead on 8 minutes when Colin Oppong broke forward and beat the keeper with a chip shot that hit the base of the post and went out to Jarid Robson who lobbed the ball back into the box for Cemal Ramadan to smash home. On 21 minutes Max Maughn got forward for Bury and put a deep cross to the far post but the ball went just to long and past the far post. A well hit free kick for Bury on 23 minutes saw Jake Chambers Shaw test Heybridge keeper Luca Collins who made a great one handed save to put the ball out past the post. On 32 minutes Heybridge pulled level, a corner into the box bounced loose and quickest to react was Toib Adeyemi who headed past Bugg for the equalizer. Bury were awarded a penalty on 42 minutes and Ramadan fired Bury back in front from the spot.

The game went end to end second half. On 47 minutes a deep throw in to the Bury box was headed wide by Elliot Ronto. A minute later Hybridge had another chance with Jack Adlington-Pile shooting through a crowded box but Bugg was quick to make the save. Colin Oppong tried a turn and strike in the box for Bury on 52 minutes, but his shot went high and wide. on 68 minutes a good Bury attack was Oppong find Maughn in the box and a back pass to Chamber Shaw gave him a chance to shoot but he shot wide. A dangerous ball into the box on 78 minutes from Adlington-Pile was collected by Bugg close to the goal line. A golden opportunity for Heybridge fell on 86 minutes when a cross into the box was headed over the bar from close range by David Rodriguez-Lopez. The game looked to be heading for a Bury win as the game went into injury time but there was to be a final twist with the last action of the game as a cross in to the box was headed home by Alex Teniola on 95 minutes to equalize for Heybridge. The game ended at 2-2 and a point a piece. Heybridge went on to win the penalty shoot out for the extra point.
