Bury Town start the New Year and the New Decade with a win
On a pitch that showed serious ware and tear due to the weather both sides found it hard to find any kind of flowing football but Bury came out on top to take another three valuable points. On 6 minutes Ross Crane got to the edge of the box for Bury and went past two defenders before he got his shot away, but the ball sailed up high over the bar. Jake Chambers Shaw worked his way to the edge of the box and put a great flick through to Cemal Ramadan but a good block from Derek Ubah sent the ball back upfield. Bury were awarded a penalty on 16 minutes after Ross Crane was flattened in the box. Cemal Ramadan who has been prolific from the spot this season had a rare miss as he put his spot kick against the bar. Cambridge had a good chance to open the scoring on 20 minutes with a curling effort from Nicki Dembele which went just wide of the far post. Another great opportunity for Cambridge came on 34 minutes with a corner whipped into the box and Jordan Gent headed wide from close range. Ryan Stafford pushed upfield for Bury and came inside to find Ollie Hughes who back headed to Chambers Shaw, but he shot wide of the post on 37 minutes.

With all still to play for second half for both sides it was Cambridge with the early chances. On 48 minutes a good cross into the box was headed wide again by Jordan Gent. On 50 minutes a slick move saw Cemal Ramadan cross in for Ollie Hughes to hit the back of the net only to be ruled offside. Ryan Jolland got in on the action for Bury on 52 minutes as he powered through and got a great cross in across the face of gaol but with no one there to capitalize the ball went out of play. Jolland was not to be denied for long and on 64 minutes he put a great cross in close to the keeper which fooled everyone as the ball made its way past them and into the back of the net. Bury were not in front long as Cambridge went on the attack and on 71 minutes, they were level. With the Bury defence at sixes and sevens Chris Regis found a way in to put the ball past Bury keeper Daniel Barden. With the game level Bury began to press forward more and more and on 76 minutes a superb chest down and strike from Cemal Ramadan flew past the keeper and into the roof of the net. Cambridge were reduced to ten men on 88 minutes when Luke Knight was shown his second yellow of the game and was sent off. Bury took the win at the final whistle and took another three points to bolster their position at the top end of the table.
