Bury Town will be looking to maintain top spot in the Isthmian North Division on Saturday when they welcome 20th placed Romford to the Denny Bros Stadium.
The Blues claimed the number one position from Maldon & Tiptree last weekend with a victory at Felixstowe while they were on FA Cup duty, and Ben Chenery will be keen for his side to extend their points advantage further following a 3-0 win over Coggeshall Town on Tuesday evening which also took the Blues top of their League Cup group with 2 wins from 3 games.
Town will welcome a Romford side sitting bottom of the table but buoyed by a 5-1 thrashing of top-half Histon last weekend which gave the 'Boro their first win of the season, which was followed up by a narrow defeat at a strong Grays Athletic side on Wednesday in the Velocity Trophy.
Romford have a reasonable record at the Denny Bros Stadium in recent seasons with a win, a defeat and a draw, one of those draws coming early last season when the sides cancelled each other out a 1-1, but the Blues managed a 4-0 away win at East Thurrock United's ground later in the season, but Romford again pulled off the impossible by avoiding relegation and sending Mildenhall Town down instead.
The manager made a number of changes to the side that defeated Coggeshall Town on Tuesday so Ollie Hughes, Cemal Ramadan, Daniel Barden, Jake Chambers Shaw and Ross Crane are all expected to come back into the squad to face Romford, while Ollie Fenn and Taylor Hastings still remained sidelined as they have done for much of the season with long term injuries.
With Maldon & Tiptree, Grays, Heybridge and Coggeshall not in Isthmian League action tomorrow, a positive result will extend the Blues lead at the top in these early days, but they will be forced to work hard by a determined Romford side who will be looking for three points of their own to move off the bottom of the table as they look to avoid any late season drama this time around.
