Bury take top spot with another win

Bury Town finished the day in top spot after a solid team performance to record another league win. Bury started pushing forward early, with Ollie Hughes breaking into the box on 2 minutes and his shot was fumbled by Felixstowe keeper Danny Crump under pressure from Cemal Ramadan who won the ball but shot wide. On 11 minutes Bury broke through again with Colin Oppong playing a clever ball out to Ryan Stafford on the wing, coming inside Safford put the perfect through ball in for Ramadan who was in on the Crump, but the Felixstowe keeper made a brave save at feet. Bury were looking good going forward and on 23 minutes opened the scoring. A free kick played in by Jake Chambers Shaw lead to a goal mouth scramble and Will Gardner rushed in to smash the ball into the back of the net. Armani Schaar had a chance to pull the home side level on 29 minutes, getting on the end of a cross into the box but Bury keeper Daniel Barden showed save hands to make the catch. Another good attack from Bury came on 40 minutes when Ross Crane put a cross into the box for Ramadan, but he headed just over the bar.

Second half Bury continued where they left off in the first half as they continued to press forward. Colin Oppong had the first chance on 49 minutes as he got forward but shot wide. On 55 minutes Ryan Jolland dribbled the ball to the edge of the box hit shot went high and wide. Oppong was in again on 64 minutes as he went one on one with Crump but chose to chip the ball past the out-rushing keeper who got the block in to send the ball out of play. Jolland got a great cross in the box on 67 minutes which found Ollie Hughes in front of goal, but the ball spun up wildly of his boot and was cleared by the defence. Bury got their second goal from another free kick on 74 minutes with Jake Chambers Shaw putting the ball in to the box and the deftest header from Hughes saw the ball loop up over Crump and hung in the air for what seemed like an eternity before dropping over the goal line. Hughes was given a ridiculous yellow card for over celebrating his goal which went to show again the need for better quality officials at this level. Bury gave away a cheap penalty on 94 minutes which was promptly dispatched by Armani Schaar at the second attempt after Barden saved his first attempt. Bury took the win to move up to the summit of the league table.
