Bury Town take another vital win as they push for play off spot

Bury Town took another big three points in a fascinating encounter against Basildon. The visitors had to play the game without their first team goal keeper after suffering a road traffic collision on the way to the game. Everyone at Bury Town wish him well and a speedy recovery. Midfielder Reece Brandon pulled on the gloves and stepped up for his Basildon team mates. Bury were first to go on the attack on 3 minutes with Ryan Jolland working the ball down the wing and crossing in to the box for Ollie Hughes but some solid defending cleared the ball. On 9 minutes a chance at the other end saw Rhys Fatt have a go at goal only to have his shot blocked. Bury had a good shout for a penalty on 13 minutes when Ollie Fenn was bundled over in the box, but the Ref waved play on. On 18 minutes Ryan Horne put a superb cross in to the box for Jolland who was inches away from making contact for a certain goal. Stuart Zanone worked the Ball through the Bury back line on 29 minutes and in to the box to shoot low but Bury keeper Luis Tibbles was down quickly to collect the ball. On 34 minutes Bury were awarded a penalty after Hughes was flattened in the box and Cemal Ramadan took the spot kick. Ramadan went for placement over power and stand in keeper Reece Brandon read the play well and made the save. Bury kept the pressure on and on 43 minutes a triple strike from Bury saw Ramadan shot saved then Hughes shot blocked before Jolland netted on the follow up at the far post. Bury went further ahead on 45 minutes with Jolland hitting a low free kick from out wide which out foxed everyone as it hit the back of the net.

Half Time: Bury Town 2 Basildon United 0

A calamitous start to the second half from Basildon saw a miss kick from stand in keeper Brandon and the ball went past him and trickled over the line and in to the empty net. Brandon pulled of a great save on 55 minutes from Ryan Jolland who curled the ball towards the top corner. On 66 minutes Jake Chamber Shaw broke into the box and got close to the near post but put hit shot just wide. Callum Taylor broke down the wing for Basildon on 72 minutes and switched inside and on in to the box to hit a low strike, but Luis Tibbles had it covered. Tibbles was needed again on 75 minutes with a quick-fire triple save to again deny Basildon. Stuart Zanone took over in goal for Basildon as Brandon, who had put in a good shift was replaced between the sticks. Bury debutant Joe Carden came off the bunch and was soon in the thick of the action on 78 minutes, getting the ball in to the box and getting a shot away but a solid save from Zanone ended the move. Bury went four goals to the good on 80 minutes with another trademark goal from Kyran Clement. A free kick for Bury out wide was whipped in to the box by Ryan Stafford and was met with a bullet of a header from Clements. Bury were cruising and were caught out twice late in the game. First a swift attack from Basildon found Matthew Brinklow in the box and a sweet finish gave the travellers something to cheer on 89 minutes. Basildon were not finished there and on 92 minutes another good attack found Rhys Fatt in space inside the box to fire home past Tibbles. A gallant performance from Basildon under extremely testing circumstances but Bury were again clinical in front of goal and secure another three vital points.
