Maldon & Tiptree (A)

Maldon & Tiptree take the points as they continue to push for top spot

A very tough afternoon for Bury Town as Maldon & Tiptree took a comfortable win at Park Drive. Plenty of chances came the way of Bury Town but the Blues were lacking in front of goal. Bury were first to make an early chance with a long ball up field for Cemal Ramadan on 5 minutes, clean through into the box but his low strike was too close to home keeper Ben McNamara who made a good stop. Bury keeper Luis Tibbles was at his very best on 9 minutes when a powerful strike from Laste Dombaxe flew toward the top corner and Tibbles read the flight of the ball well on was in the right position to make the save. On 17 minutes Bury had another good chance with Jake Chambers Shaw working the ball deep in to the box and finding Ramadan with a low cross but Ramadan put his touch straight at McNamara. On 23 minutes a quick turn and strike from Ramadan in the box went wide on the far post. Matthew Briggs broke forward for Maldon on 31 minutes and hit a superb strike with power from close range and another stunning save from Tibbles sent the ball out of play. Maldon started to push Bury back and on 35 minutes made the break through with Liam Hope getting on the end of a cross into the box and scoring close to goal. Most of the possession went the way of Maldon as the half came to an end as Maldon finished the half on top.

Half Time: Maldon & Tiptree 1 Bury Town 0

Maldon wasted no time in getting back to where they left off first half and had the ball in the Bury half frequently early in the second half. Bury had to wait until 53 minutes for their next attack. Ollie Hughes beating his marker and pushing on in to the box, but his last touch took the ball away from him and McNamara made the save. On 58 minutes Matthew Briggs put a great cross in to the box for Liam Hope, Hope blasted the ball goal ward and yet another brilliant save from Luis Tibbles denied Maldon again. Maldon were not to be denied for long as in the next attack a well worked move from Maldon found Jerome Slew in space in the box to simply side foot home to double the lead for the home side on 59 minutes. On 64 minutes Jake Chambers Shaw got deep in to the box for Bury and with Ollie Hughes on the follow up put his short cross the wrong side of Hughes and the chance was gone. Hughes again tried to get Bury moving forward on 71 minutes, breaking down the wing and getting a cross in to the box but no one was far enough forward to make the chance count. Maldon put the game to bed on 82 minutes after the save of the game from Luis Tibbles from point blank range the ball fell to Billy Roast who could not miss with Tibbles on the floor. Maldon took a comfortable win at the final whistle and Bury were left to look back on too many missed chances in front of goal.
