Mildenhall Town (H)

Bury Town put in their best performance of the season so far to win the local derby

An outstanding performance from Bury Town saw them run out comfortable winners. A lively start from both side saw David Cooper putting a long ball down the wing for Evans Kouassi to get on to and go behind the Bury back line but the defence managed to clear the danger. A minute later it was Bury on the attack with Ollie Hughes making a typical quality run in from the wing and in to the box to shoot low to the keepers right, but Blake Horton showed good hands to palm the ball out of play. A penalty shout from Bury came on 5 minutes with James Seymore getting in a tangle with Tanner Call just inside the box but the referee waved play on. The game was end to end but it was Bury who took the lead on 15 minutes with Ryan Jolland showing great close control and skill to work the ball through the defence and in on goal to slip the ball past Horton with a precision ball, low into the back of the net. Five minutes later Bury were two goals in front with Jolland again at the heart of things. Jolland whipped in the perfect corner which was met with a bullet header from Ollie Hughes that screamed past the keeper and in to the net. Another confident press forward from Jolland on 32 minutes got him in to the box and a sweet pass found Call in at the near post but the keeper made the save.

Half Time: Bury Town 2 Mildenhall Town 0

Mildenhall came out on a mission and with an incisive attack Ben Nolan cracked the ball off the post early in the second half. Bury kept up the intensity of the first half and with a slice of luck went further ahead on 51 minutes, Ryan Stafford, who had looked dangerous on the wing all game, broke inside and put a pacey cross in to the box which was deflected of a defender and the far post and in to the net to make the game comfortable for Bury. Still Bury kept on the attack and never let up. Some neat passing and quality balls kept the Blues probing forwards at every opportunity. On 60 minutes a beautifully weighted through ball from Jake Chambers Shaw found Call in the box and Horton had to pull off a good save to put the ball out of play. Mildenhall looked dangerous when going forward and had a chance on 67 minutes with Kouassi finding a bit of space to hit a full-blooded shot just wide of the far post. On 72 minutes Kyran Clements fired a shot just wide of the angle from a Bury corner. Bury took the win and showed what they are capable of with a good all-round team performance. taking their chance when they come which has been a hindrance of late for the Blues, but this time out Bury were clinical in front of goal.
