Bury Town get back to winning ways

Bury Town were made to work hard to take the points from this game. Bury took control of the first half early on with Ryan Jolland putting in a cross on 5 minutes to Ollie Hughes who chested the ball into the path of Tanner Call but the defence were quick to snuff out the danger. On 10 minutes Witham had a chance with Lheureux Menga getting to a loose ball in the Bury box but shot straight at Bury keeper Luis Tibbles. Ian Miller went close for Bury on 13 minutes, Jake Cambers Shaw putting his free kick in to the box, but Miller headed over the bar. Call chasing a long ball was in on the keeper on 17 minutes, but Luca Collins was out to meet Call and saved with his feet. Bury took the lead on 21 minutes from a corner in from Jake Chambers Shaw which was met by a bullet header from Kyran Clements that gave the keeper no chance as it flew in to the net. Bury then doubled their lead on 35 minutes when Tanner Call chased a loose ball in to the box and squared a great pass to Ollie Hughes who scored from close range. Witham had a great chance to pull a goal back on 43 minutes with Sam Ashford getting through on goal, but Luis Tibbles got out quick to intercept and put in the block save.

Second half Bury continues to press forward from the restart and on 47 minutes Jake Chamber Shaw hit a screamer from outside the box and Luca Collins make an exceptional save to put the ball out for a corner. Bury had a succession of early corners the pick of which saw Ryan Jolland find Ian Miller who headed the ball back across goal but just wide of the far post. On 62 minutes Sam Ashford tried a clever overhead shot close to the Bury goal but Luis Tibbles made the save. With the introduction of Michael Osei Saahene and Shamido Redulu from the bench Witham looked like a completely different team and went on the attack throughout the remainder of the half. On 70 minutes Witham were awarded a penalty for a trip in the box and Sam Ashford scored from the spot. On 82 minutes Lheureux Menga had a great chance to get the equaliser as he was in on goal with just Tibbles to beat but his shot was saved well by Tibbles who rushed out to save with his feet. Bury were riding their luck in the last minutes of the game but held out to secure the win.
