End of the FA Trophy trail for the Blues

Bury Town exited this season’s FA Trophy as Soham took their chances when they came. In the 3rd minutes Ollie Hughes put a cross into the box looking for Cemal Ramadan but a good interception from the defence saw the ball cleared up field. Jake Chambers Shaw had a chance for Bury on 9 minutes but put his shot wide. Sam Mulready was in on goal for Soham on 10 minutes but a good tackle from Ryan Stafford was enough to send the ball out of play. Soham took the lead on 11 minutes with shot from out wide from Tom Newman which beat Bury 'keeper George Bugg. Bury had a great chance to pull level on 15 minutes with Jarid Robson clean through on goal but he put his shot wide. Robson had another chance on 25 minutes, but his shot was saved well by Josh Pope. George Bugg was needed again on 28 minutes when Mulready was in on goal again but a good stop from Bugg denied Mulready a second goal. On 30 minutes Hughes got into the box and had a good effort saved by Pope. Soham should have been two goals to the good before the break but Mulready fired his shot high over the bar from close range on 45 minutes.

Second half it was Soham who took the game to Bury and on 54 minutes were two goals in front. A corner into the box lead to a scramble in front of goal and Sam Mulready could not miss from close range. On 58 minutes a corner from Bury saw Ollie Hughes shot cleared off the line by Ally Conway and the follow up shot from Jarid Robson was put over the bar. Ryan Stafford tried a shot from out wide on 60 minutes which was saved by Pope. Mulready had another chance for Soham on 63 minutes but he put his shot the wrong side of the post. Soham had the ball in the net again on 64 minutes but it was ruled offside by the linesman. Soham were attacking at will and on 73 minutes Matty Allan broke down the wing and tried a shot from out wide which went just wide of the far post. On 81 minutes Ryan Horne found Cruise Nyadzayo in the Soham box but he went for placement over power and Pope made an easy save. Soham killed the game off with a third goal on 83 minutes when across into the box found Callum Russell in acres of space at the far post to put Soham three goals up. Soham took a comfortable win at the final whistle and make it through to the next round.
