Bury Town’s long wait for a league goal now stretches to five game after Gorleston collected all three points as they start to climb the league table
An open game saw both side create chances, but poor finishing and good defending meant this game was never going to be high scoring. Carlos Edwards tested the visiting keeper on 12 minutes when his corner in to the box went close to the crossbar and a strong fist from Jake Jessup cleared the ball from the box. On 16 minutes Joe Hood got into the box for Bury and his short pass found Lee Watkins but his low shot was saved by Jake Jessup. On 22 minutes a quality pass from Dominic Docherty sent Nathan Stewart down the wing but his cross in to the box was poor as it went straight to Bury keeper Charlie Woods. On 29 minutes Gorleston went on the attack again and Jacek Zielonka saw a chance to shoot but his strike went inches wide of the far post. Charley Barker saw his shot from close range again saved well by Jake Jessup on 30 minutes. On 31 minutes Lee Watkins had another good chance as he sent his shot heading for the top corner but a superb one handed save from Jake Jessup sent the ball out of play. Max Maughn sent Cemal Ramadan through on goal for Bury on 35 minutes but Ramadan shot wide. On 37 minutes another good attack from Gorleston saw Nathan Stewart get down the wing but his cross into the box was just too strong for the header from Ross Gilfedder which went wide. Gorleston won a penalty in injury time which Connor Deeks fired too close to Charlie Woods who made a great save and the follow up shot was put well wide of the target.

On 66 minutes Ross Gilfedder thought he had opened the scoring for Gorleston when his effort hit the back of the net but the Ref blew for a foul in the build-up. Cemal Ramadan and Max Maughn linked up well again on 73 minutes and Ramadan got a shot away inside the box but a good save from the feet of the keeper denied Bury the opening goal. The deadlock was finally broken on 74 minutes, and it was a thing of beauty from Jacek Zielonka who picked up the ball a fair way outside the box and hit the sweetest strike, the ball sailed over the head of Charlie Woods and dipped under the bar. Things got even worst for Bury on 78 minutes when Ollie Fenn was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge and was sent off. Gorleston took the win at the final whistle and a goal worthy of winning any game boosts Gorleston up two places in the league to 16th. As for Bury it was another disappointing result but the chances were there, Bury just could not make the chances count when they came.
