Cemal Ramadan goal enough to seal the points for Bury Town

A superb second half solo effort from Camel Ramadan gave Bury all three points as they knocked the visitors Dereham Town off top spot. The game was very scrappy first half with neither ‘keeper seriously tested. Early chances saw Dereham go close with Adam Hipperson firing in from close range at the near post but Bury ‘keeper Joe Rose was equal to the shot. On 3 minutes Carlos Edwards put a floating cross into the box which had Dereham keeper Elliott Pride tipping over the bar. Cemal Ramadan went close from Bury on 15 minutes, chipping the ball just over the bar. Dereham were on the attack on 26 minutes with Hipperson getting into the box but a superb tackle from Joe Hood ended the move. A Bury corner on 28 minutes was headed wide by Taylor Hastings. On 34 minutes a shot from distance from Dereham’s Rhys Logan was saved well by Rose. Ollie Hughes got into the box for Bury on 45 minutes and after beating his marker shot just wide of the far post.

The second half was a much livelier affair. On 49 minutes Dereham went close with Hipperson firing in from distance which went just over the bar. A good attack from Bury on 54 minutes saw Cemal Ramadan set up Jake Chambers Shaw in the box but Shaw could not get his shot away and the chance was cleared. Bury opened the scoring on 55 minutes with Ramadan clean through down the wing, he brought the ball inside and around the keeper to slot home. On 67 minutes Ramadan played a great cross in to Shaw in the box but the ball spun up off his head and was an easy clearance for the defence. There was late drama that saw Dereham go down to ten men with Dion Frary shown a straight red on 92 minutes for a clear stamp on Ollie Hughes after the ball had gone which was well spotted by the match officials. More drama in injury time saw Dereham bundle the ball over the goal line, and as the visitors celebrated like they had won the World Cup, the referee consulted his linesman and he ruled the goal out for a hand ball in the build-up. A dramatic end to the game but it was Bury who were worthy winners and took the points to beat the league leaders.
