The Club are delighted to announce the signing of New Zealand international defender Tommy Smith.
Tommy has a long, rich footballing journey to this point.
A graduate of the Ipswich Town academy, he spent 11 years at Ipswich, making over 230 appearances before leaving in 2018 to join MLS side Colorado Rapids, before a stint at Sunderland, followed by Colchester United, MK Dons – and then moving to Australia to play in the A-League, joining mid-way through the 23/24 season to Macarthur FC, and then joined Auckland as part of the club’s leadership group, becoming vice-captain. He returned to England with Braintree Town, before now becoming a new Bury Town signing.
On signing with us, Tommy said “I’m really excited to be here. I know friends who have played here or are actively playing here and they always have nothing but good things to say”.
Tommy will be available for selection ahead of tomorrow’s league opener.
