Bury Town and Lakenheath fought out an entertaining friendly on Tuesday evening as the Blues eventually ran out 3-2 winners against their Thurlow Nunn League opponents.
Bury started with a stronger line up than the one that has started at Debenham on the previous Saturday and took command during the first half with new signing from Mildenhall Jarid Robson scoring from distance in the 22nd minute, and that was followed up with another long range strike from Jake Chambers Shaw in the 27th minute as Bury took a 2 goal lead. The Blues had a chance to extend their lead further when Chambers Shaw crashed a shot against the cross bar from a free kick just outside the box, but Shaun Avis pulled a goal back for Lakenheath just before half time.
In the second half, Ben Chenery made a few changes and introduced some of the younger players in the squad, and the next goal went to Lakenheath with Reece Clarke scored at the second attempt after Mayhew had saved the original shot.
Bury restored their lead in the 60th minute when a mix up in the Lakenheath defence allowed Tanner Call the simple task of scoring from close range and despite further chances for both sides, that was how the score remained.
Bury Town are next in action on Friday evening when they travel to Newmaket Town, kick off at 7:45pm.
