Isthmian North Grays Athletic 0–1 Bury Town Sat 5 Oct 2024 · Chadfields Match centre

The single goal proved enough to strengthen Bury Town’s position at the top end of the league table.

The game was a cagey affair for the most part as both sides tried to get control of the game. Early chances came and went from Bury and Grays. On 3 minutes a cheeky lob from Cemal Ramadan almost caught out the Grays keeper but Danny Sambridge back tracked well to collect the ball. On 5 minutes Grays went on the attack when Louie Remi took the ball down well and pushed on into the box and his shot was saved well by Charlie Beckwith. On 10 minutes another Grays attack saw Alejandro Machado fire a shot from close range and Charlie Beckwith made an incredible save to send the ball up onto the roof of the net. Micheal Davis got Bury going forward on 19 minutes with a charging run through the midfield but his ball forward was just too long for Cemal Ramadan to reach. On 29 minutes Bury thought they had gained the lead when a good attack saw Michael Davis play a great ball into the box which was finished off by Cemal Ramadan only to be ruled out by the offside flag. On 30 minutes Josh Curry was called upon for Bury when Alejandro Machado broke into the box and Curry got an important block on the ball to stop the shot. Bury got forward on 36 minutes with Max Maughn working the ball towards goal but he put to much weight on his pass to Cemal Ramadan and the chance was gone. A tight half ended goalless but nicely poised at the interval.

Second half Bury settled on the ball quickly and had more of the possession. The Blues pressed well on the attack but had to be patient as they went in search of a goal. On 52 minutes Alfie Pinyoun played a great ball to Tom Thulborn and his cross into the box for Eathan Mayhew was headed clear by Malaki Toussaint. On 56 minutes Alfie Pinyoun jinked his way around in the box but was closed down before he could strike. Max Maughn intercepted the ball high up the pitch on 67 minutes but his forward pass for Cemal Ramadan had too much pace to be of use. Cemal Ramadan drove forward on 69 minutes and his ball across the face of goal was almost converted by Eathan Mayhew who was closing in at the far post. Grays went close to opening the scoring on 79 minutes when a counterattack saw George Craddock blast a shot from close range which skimmed of the top of the bar. Then on 83 minutes Bury found a way through the Grays defence when Luke Brown sent a short pass out to Max Maughn on the wing and the cross into the box was guided into the back of the net by the slightest of touches by Cemal Ramadan and a deflection off a defender. The goal was awarded to Ramadan and Bury had the lead they were searching for. A late rally by Grays saw them heap pressure on Bury but an outstanding performance by keeper Charlie Beckwith and the single goal was enough to secure the points for Bury Town.
