New format for the Alan Turvey Trophy sponsored by Velocity

There will be a new format for the Velocity League Cup in the Isthmian League this season as group stages have been introduced for the competition, before the winners of the group progress to play the Premier Division clubs in the second phase.

The Blues have been placed in a group with Felixstowe & Walton, AFC Sudbury, Heybridge Swifts and Maldon & Tiptree and will play a total of 5 games, 2 at the Denny Bros Stadium and three away from home.

There will no longer be any extra time in the event of a draw and each club will pick up one point and then take part in a penalty shootout, with the winners of that then picking up a bonus point.

Bury were winners of the competition back in 2012 when it was a straight knock out format after beating East Thurrock United in the final 1-0, and remain the only Suffolk side to have their name on the trophy to date.

1. Week beginning 2nd September - Bury Town vs Felixstowe & Walton United
2. Week beginning 22nd September - Heybridge Swifts vs Bury Town
3. Week beginning 7th October - Maldon & Tiptree vs Bury Town
4. Week beginning 21st October - Bury Town vs Coggeshall Town
5. Week beginning 4th November - AFC Sudbury vs Bury Town

The exact dates for the fixtures will be confirmed in the coming weeks between all the clubs and added to the Fixtures & Results page of the website.
