Bury Town were saddened to hear of the death of former Chairman Vic Clark who died on 15th December from prostate cancer.

Clark, pictured above in 1989 with former Bury Town player Simon Milton, had served as a member of the board at Ram Meadow until he took over the post of chairman in 1989. He served as chairman until the summer of 1995 when he left the club and was replaced by Colin Hurley. The Blues spent the entire period of his chairmanship in the Beazer Homes Southern League.

In Vic's first season in charge, the club won the Suffolk Premier Cup, beating local rivals Sudbury Town 3-2 at Ram Meadow in front of 1,510 supporters but the cup was taken away by the Suffolk FA after Sudbury lodged a complaint that Bury had played a cup tied player.

As well as being chairman of the town's football club, Vic had a number of other business interests around Bury St Edmunds and was landlord of the Kings Arms pub located just a short walk from our Ram Meadow ground. Vic was often described as a larger than life character in the Boardroom's of clubs that the Blues visited in the Southern League during his time as chairman.

Clark's funeral will take place on Friday 14th January 2022 at 1:30pm at the West Suffolk Crematorium in Risby on the outskirts of the town.
