Away Fans, Players' Player, Managers Player and Supporters Player awards revealed for the 2019-20 season.

The Bury Town FC First Team player awards for Season 2019-20 have been announced following the unusual end to the season which was brought to a premature halt.

There are 4 awards usually presented, the first is the Dave Longman Away Fans Player of the Season, which is based on away matches and voted for by a group of travelling away fans. The trophy is named in memory of Dave Longman who passed away a couple of years ago. He was a regular away traveler as he lived in Welwyn Garden City and most away games were closer to him than Ram Meadow.

The next award is the Players' Player of the year, and this is an important award as this is recognition from fellow team mates. The managers player is selected by Ben Chenery and the final award is the Supporters Player of the season award and this season as voting by not possible at the final few home matches of the season, voting was carried out by e-mail this season.

The award winners are as follows:

DAVE LONGMAN AWAY FANS PLAYER OF THE SEASON 2019-20: ROSS CRANE

Ross Crane received the most 'Man of the Match' awards at our away fixtures during the 2019-20 season. The travelling Blues supporters cast their votes after each away fixture and congratulations to Ross who was voted the Away Fans Player of the Season. Ross joined last season from AFC Sudbury and made 33 appearances and scored 2 goals before recently leaving to join Ipswich Town on a 2 year deal following an impressive season for us.

PLAYERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON 2019-20: JOE HOOD

Joe Hood is the 2019-20 Players Player of the Season, after he received the most votes from his team mates. This is Joe's first season with the Blues after joining from St Neots Town last summer, and he made 36 appearances and scored 1 goal. In winning this award his popularity with the other members of the squad is highlighted.

MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON 2019-20: OLLY HUGHES

The Managers Player of the season is striker Olly Hughes. Ben Chenery had to say the following; "My Managers Player of the season was a tough choice this season as we have a whole squad of players that are great to work with and very professional, but this season I have selected Olly Hughes. It was well known that he was suffering from injury and required an operation, but he played the whole season, sometimes through the pain barrier and gave 100% in every game. He set the standard for the other players to follow and for that reason, he is my Managers Player of the season for 2019-20.

SUPPORTERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON 2019-20: OLLY HUGHES

The Supporters Player of the Season for the 5th consecutive season is Olly Hughes. During home matches at the end of each season, votes are cast by supporters, but due to the early end to the current season, this was not possible, however votes were cast by e-mail and the winner by a clear margin was Olly, who has now won this award in every season he has played for Bury Town. Olly made 32 appearances and scored 8 goals during the campaign and also raised £4,000 with a marathon run around Bury St Edmunds a few weeks ago to pay for season tickets for supporters and volunteers next season.

Congratulations to all our award winners, the formal presentations of the trophies will take place at a home pre-season friendly ahead of the 2020-21 season.
