Bury Town continue to look for that all elusive goal to end the current drought, but East Thurrock were in no mood for charity as they took the game to Bury
On 8 minutes Bury went on the attack with Cemal Ramadan showing good ball skills to find Cruis Nydazayo in the box and his short cross to Charley Barker saw Barker go down in the box. The Ref was unimpressed and waved play on. On 14 minutes Johnny Ashman went on a run and put a cross in to the box for East Thurrock which flashed across the face of goal but went harmlessly out of play. On 22 minutes East Thurrock were back on the attack with another good cross into the box this time Alex Hernandez got his head to the ball but the lack of power made for an easy catch by Bury keeper Charlie Woods. On 26 minutes a corner was headed off the bar for East Thurrock by Jack McQueen. Bury almost scored on 29 minutes when Cemal Ramadan’s looping header was cleared off the line by Jack Hayes. Bury won a free kick on 32 minutes which Jed Wigley put just over the bar. Bury had another opportunity on 34 minutes when Cemal Ramadan worked the ball to the edge of the box but an important challenge from Harry Critchley won the ball back for East Thurrock. A slice of good fortune fell to Harry Hope on 36 minutes as a loose ball broke for him and he went on a run towards the Bury goal but Joe Hood was on hand to win the ball back for Bury. Both sides had chances first half but there were no goals at the break.

East Thurrock continued to create the better chance second half and kept the ball well as Bury rarely got out of their own half early on. East Thurrock then capitalised on their early pressure and were soon in front when on 57 minutes Harry Critchley put a ball into the box and Alex Hernandez guided the ball home. On 61 minutes another East Thurrock attack saw Harry Critchley’s cross into the box headed on by Jack Hayes to Brian Moses who was in close to the keeper, but Charlie Woods remained strong to win the ball. East Thurrock almost added to the goal tally on 74 minutes but Lewis O’Malley was in the right place at the right time to cleared the ball from his goal line for Bury. Bury saw more of the ball in the last ten minutes as East Thurrock seemed happy to protect their one goal lead. On 81 minutes a mistake at the back from East Thurrock let in Cemal Ramadan and he went on into the box but his low pass looking for Max Maughn was cleared by the defence. On 83 minutes Lewis O’Malley threaded the ball through to Cemal Ramadan who again got into the box and tried to lift the ball over to Max Maughn but again the defence got the ball clear. In injury time Brian Moses had the perfect chance to kill the game off for East Thurrock when he found himself clean through on goal and in the box, but he put his effort into orbit rather than on target. Another poor performance from Bury as they end their run of goalless draws with a defeat but a good win for East Thurrock sees them move above Bury and up the league table to eighth.
