Dereham take the three points against a dominant Bury

Isthmian North Dereham Town 2–1 Bury Town Tue 2 Nov 2021 · Aldiss Park Match centre

Two first half goals proved enough for Dereham Town as Bury Town’s second half dominance tested the home sides defences often, but they stood firm

Dereham struck first on 22 minutes with Andrew Fisk putting a cross in to the box for Shaun Bammant who’s shot took a wicked deflection and went past Bury ‘keeper Sam Blair.
On 26 minutes Dereham were on the attack again with Rhys Logan battling through the midfield and finding Bammant who blasted the ball from distance but a superb save from Blair sent the ball out over the bar.
On 32 minutes a free kick in to the Bury box had the defence in disarray as the ball went out to Rossi Jarvis who kept his cool to score Dereham’s second goal.
Ryan Jolland put a corner into the box for Bury on 35 minutes which was cleared only as far as Jake Chambers Shaw, but his shot went wide. Another good corner in from Jolland on 41 minutes saw Max Maughn’s headed effort headed over the bar by Jerry Dasaolu close to the goal line.
Taylor Hastings halved the deficit for Bury on 41 minutes getting in at the far post from another Jolland corner and this time Hastings managed to squeeze his header between defender and the far post.
On 43 minutes, at the other end Jerry Dasaolu hit a rocket of a shot from distance which went over the bar. Bury were fighting back hard and Jolland went close in injury time with a rocket of his own which went inches over the crossbar.

After the break it was all about Bury who dominated the half. On 48 minutes Ollie Hughes got down the wing and on deep into the box but his cross went too close to Dereham ‘keeper Elliot Pride who made the catch.
Ryan Jolland played a great ball in to Cemal Ramadan in the box, but his shot was well saved by Pride. On 58 minutes Ryan Stafford broke down the wing for Bury and played a ball into the box looking for Hughes but some solid defending saw off the danger.
On 60 minutes a rare break forward from Dereham saw Rhys Logan go in on goal but for a superb tackle from Jolland who was back helping the Bury defence.
On 64 minutes Ramadan went close after Carlos Edwards high ball into the box was headed back by Ollie Fenn but Ramadan put the ball over the bar from close range. Ramadan was unlucky on 66 minutes as another effort beat Pride but hit the post.
On 72 minutes Jake Chambers Shaw twisted and turned his way into the box and was sent to ground by a clumsy challenge but the referee waved play on.
Bury were running rampant and would have pulled level but for Rossi Jarvis who cleared the ball from close to his goal line with the ‘keeper beat on 80 minutes.
Bury lost Ollie Fenn on 93 minutes after picking up his second yellow card but it made little difference so late in the game. Dereham held out to take the points but Bury made them work hard for it especially throughout the second half where Bury were dominant and very unlucky not to take at least a point from the game.
