20-year old defender joins the Blues ahead of today's game with Bowers & Pitsea

Bury Town are pleased to welcome new signing Joseph Carroll who joins from local rivals Stowmarket Town.

The 20-year-old left sided defender makes the switch to Ram Meadow having joined the Greens Meadow club from AFC Sudbury earlier this season, making his home debut in the Blues 5-0 win at Stowmarket in late September. He has made 16 appearances for Stowmarket this season, but following an approach a week ago, has decided to join Cole Skuse’s side.

The Blues manager said “I would like to welcome Joe to the club. He was a player we identified over the past month as someone who we would like to bring in. He is a left sided player and we have a bit of an imbalance at times in this area. As we enter an important part of the season, injuries and suspensions will start to impact us and its important that we have the right players in the right positions.

“We’ve heard good things about him from other coaches in the local area, and also had the opportunity to watch him on a couple of occasions”

“While it has been a difficult season for Stowmarket, Joe has stood out as a player who is very capable at this level, he lives very locally to us and he is a young player who has had a good upbringing with the Sudbury Academy.”

Joe has been registered in time to face Bowers & Pitsea in our next Isthmian League fixture at home on Saturday which kicks off at 3pm.
