Bury Town’s second consecutive draw puts them one point behind the league leaders
Both sides started the game looking to take charge as they went on the attack. On 4 minutes Bury got forward with Ryan Jolland sending a good cross close to the cross bar and Dominic Alexandru got a hand to the ball to send it away from goal. On 15 minutes Maldon got forward and Louie Arrowsmith saw an opportunity to strike from distance and Charlie Beckwith made the save. On 18 minutes Bury got forward with Max Maughn travelling with the ball into the box and shooting just wide of the near post. Maldon went on the offensive on 20 minutes and tried to set up Josh Lee but Joe White was on hand for Bury to intercept and clear the ball. On 26 minutes some quality link up play from Max Maughn and Ethan Mayhew gave Ed Upson a chance on the edge of the box but the defence shut the attack down quickly. On 31 minutes Bury took the lead when Max Maughn played a superb through ball which cut through the defence and James Mauge ran on to collect the ball and score with a tidy low finish past the keeper. On 34 minutes Ed Upson put a great ball into the box for Luke Brown but he could not get the ball under control quick enough before the defence was on him and won the ball back. On 40 minutes Maldon had a chance to pull level when Bury gave the ball away and Josh Lee had just the keeper to beat but shot wide of the post.

Second half Maldon were the more creative on the attack and were soon level when on 48 minutes Bury failed to clear the ball from the box and Kai Redgrave fired his shot low through a crowded box into the back of the net. On 55 minutes a cross into the Bury box was cleared only as far as Chris Millar just outside the box and his volley when over the bar. Two minutes later Maldon continued to attack and Chris Millar sent the ball into the box for Kai Redgrave but he shot just wide. Maldon were not happy to settle for the draw as they continued to push forward. On 64 minutes Kai Redgrave set up Mohammed Amir to shoot but Charlie Beckwith made solid save. Charlie Beckwith made another good save on 69 minutes when Lewis Watson cracked a free kick towards the top corner. A counterattack from Bury on 77 minutes saw Cemal Ramadan get a shot away which was blocked by the defence. Maldon went close on 78 minutes when Kai Redgrave broke into the Bury box at pace and his ball towards goal was cleared by Joe White close to goal. On 82 minutes Max Maughn got Bury back on the attack with a good cross into the box which Ollie Canfer headed wide. On 87 minutes a Maldon free kick was put just wide of the post by Lewis Watson. In added time Kai Brown but a good ball into the Bury box which Kai Redgrave fired at goal but Charlie Beckwith denied Maldon a late winner. Maldon had better chances to win the game in the second half, while Bury had to look to counterattacked, but the game ended in a draw and Bury took another valuable point.
