Bury Town fortunate to secure another valuable point as Stourbridge see penalty saved and late goal ruled out for offside.

In a big game for both sides as they find themselves fighting at the bottom end of the table. Stourbridge fighting to climb out of the bottom four and Bury fighting to avoid dropping into the relegation places. It was Bury who struck first. Joe Carroll sent a long throw into the box, which was headed on by Taylor Parr, a half clearance fell to with Tommy Hughes just outside the box and his half volley beat the keeper as it hit the roof of the net with just three minutes on the clock. On 9 minut6es Bury had a chance when Jamie McGrath but a ball into the box close to the keeper for Ollie Canfer, the ball broke loose to Ethan Mayhew and his shot was blocked. Stourbridge composed themselves and soon pushed Bury back to mostly defending with just a couple of half chances in front of goal for the hosts and on 30 minutes Stourbridge got their equaliser when a ball into the Bury box was misjudged by the defence and Jenson Sumnall stole in to collect the ball and fire Stourbridge level. On 38 minutes Stourbridge went on the attack and Brad Bood sent a good ball into the box which was headed clear by Joe Carroll. Since the equaliser Stourbridge had looked the more likely to score next but Bury defended well to ensure to game was level at the break.

Half Time : Bury Town 1 Stourbridge 1

Second half Stourbridge continued to give Bury little to work with as they kept tight control of the game. An early chance for the visitors presented itself on 47 minutes when Brad Bood’s shot from distance went over the bar. On 57 minutes a good forward run from Jai Verma saw him go deep into the Bury box before a good challenge from Lewis O’Malley sent the ball out for a corner. On 61 minutes Ethan Mayhew put a pacey cross into the Stourbridge box, but no one was close enough to the ball to capitalized on the chance. Stourbridge had the opportunity to take the lead from the spot on 81 minutes when a clumsy challenge resulted in a penalty for the visitors but a poorly taken spot kick from Toumani Sidibe was met by a solid save from Charlie Beckwith. Stourbridge thought they had got the winner late on when a stunning strike from Zidan Sutherland was eventually ruled out for offside after a long discussion by the Officials on 87 minutes. Bury were second best for most of the game and will feel relieved they came away with a point from a game they could ill afford to lose as they sit dangerously close to the relegation zone. As for Stourbridge it will feel like two points dropped as their recent good form has seen them get closer to climbing out of the bottom four.
