Just after the half hour Sudbury grabbed the lead when Callum Page put a cross into the box which was not cleared effectively and Charlie Lewis shot low past the outstretched hand of Charlie Beckwith. On 42 minutes Bury had a shout for a penalty when Ally Conway got the ball in the box but a shove in the back sent him to ground before he could strike. The referee was not convinced and indicated play on. Just before the break Sudbury had a chance when Marcel Lewis charged forward and got to the edge of the box, but his strike was blocked.

Ally Conway thought he had halved the deficit for Bury on 57 minutes when he slipped the ball past the keeper only to see his goal ruled out for offside. On 59 minutes Sudbury extended their lead with another good finish when Finlay Corrigan saw his strike from distance go in off the far post. On 65 minutes George Quantrell went on a purposeful long run forward for Bury and got just outside the box but with not enough power on his strike Marcus Garnham made an easy save. The Bury defence was caught napping on 81 minutes when a ball to the far side of the box was perfect for Marcel Lewis who slotted home Sudbury’s fourth goal. In added time Callum Page went on a forward run from his own half and was left unchallenged as he broke into the Bury box but hit the side netting with his strike.
