Influential midfielder ruled out for the season after ACL rupture in League Cup game

Bury Town have been dealt a big blow to their promotion bid as influential midfielder Ryan Horne has been ruled out for 9-10 months after rupturing his ACL in the recent Velocity Trophy match at Maldon & Tiptree.

Ryan had to leave the field after just 9 minutes after coming on as a substitute and the news that boss Ben Chenery had been fearing came through on Tuesday after a scan revealed the extend of the damage.

Ben had to say "I am gutted to lose Ryan for at least the rest of the season. He is one of the best in this divisional and crucial to how we play"

"The reason we gave him a contract at the start of the season was that it was imperative that we kept him for the whole season as I knew that his performances would attract interest from other clubs. He has a great attitude and is a very popular player with the rest of the squad so they will be hurting as well"

"His loss will be very damaging to us but I must try to make the best of a bad situation and keep us on track"

"The club will support Ryan with his recovery and I hope he looks at this positively and although he has a long road ahead with his rehabilitation, I look forward to him coming back when ready"

Everyone at the club wished Ryan the best with his recovery.
