Another two goals from Cemal Ramadan and one for debutant Alfie Cutbush led to a convincing win for Bury Town and lifted them up two places in the league
The game started with both sides probing forward and after 3 minutes Witham won a free kick just outside the box which Ramiah Mills put inches wide of the post.
A corner played in to the box from Bury on 11 minutes found debutant Alfie Cutbush, on loan from Ipswich Town, but his shot was blocked well by the defence. On 13 minutes a long throw in from Bury found Joe Yaxley in space but he blasted his shot from outside the box high over the bar.
Witham went on the attack on 20 minutes with Ramiah Mills setting up Kieran Southgate, but he blasted his effort over the bar as the game moved from end to end but it was Bury who stuck first as after 24 minutes Cruis Nydazayo battled his way into the box to set up Cemal Ramadan with a tap in from close range.
Witham had an attack on 32 minutes with a high ball into the box looking for Kieran Southgate, but Joe Hood read the play well to make the headed interception.
On 35 minutes Bury were two goals up when Alfie Cutbush scored with a low driven shot from distance which beat the defence and the ‘keeper as the ball hit the back of the net.
On 37 minutes Witham won a corner which was played to the far post where Joseph Alatise was ready to pounce but his header was off target. It was a good half for Bury who defended well and two quality finishing saw them take a two-goal lead in to the break.
Half Time: Bury Town 2 Witham Town 0
The opening stages of the second half Witham found themselves not only chasing the game but chasing the ball too as Bury grabbed their third goal on 48 minutes and took control of the game. Cruis Nydazayo and Cemal Ramadan linked up again and Nydazayo put a nice through ball into the centre which was hunted down by Ramadan who found space between two defenders to collect the ball and run on to the edge of the box before slotting home the third goal for Bury with a sweet finish.
Not everything went the way of Bury however as on the hour Lee Watkins picked up an ankle injury that saw him leave the game on a stretcher. On 69 minutes Ryan Jolland got down the wing for Bury and found Cemal Ramadan in the box but he shot just wide of the post.
On 74 minutes a powerful strike from Joe Yaxley from outside the box crashed against the crossbar, but shortly after Yaxley afternoon was over when he picked up a straight red card for what looked nothing more than a late challenge and Bury had to play the remainder of the game with ten men.
The extra man did little to help Witham as Bury closed ranks and stopped everything that came their way. Bury continued to get forward when they could but found less chances to attack as they were happy to sit deeper and contain Witham with the game won.
With Bury picking up seven points from their last three game the Blues are back on track and moving up the league table.
