Bury Town slip to defeat at Grays

Bury Town suffer another defeat at Grays Athletic
Bury Town slipped down another place in the league after defeat as Grays overtake the Blues. Bury had an early chance with Ollie Hughes hitting the cross bar on 4 minutes. Ryan Stafford had a shot go wide on 7 minutes after getting in to a good position just outside the box. On 14 minutes Thomas Wade got on to a cross in the box for Grays but shot high over the bar. Grays had another great chance on 21 minutes when Mitchel Hahn tested Bury keeper Luis Tibbles and the Bury keeper spilled to ball in to the path of Kieran Bishop who shot over the bar from close range. Ollie Hughes broke down the wing and got in to the box on 24 minutes, but Clarke Bogard made a good save for Grays. On 26 minutes Wade put a pass in to Zak Henry in the box but he put his shot wide of the post. Ryley Scott tried his luck from distance for Bury on 33 minutes but put his shot over the bar. Grays took the lead just before the break after Bury were guilty of giving the ball away and Bishop was in on goal and hit a low strike past Tibbles to give Grays the lead.

The second half saw Bury keep pressing forward with a high tempo, on 55 minutes Jake Kerins put a deep cross in to the box looking for Ollie Hughes at the far post but the cross was just too high for Hughes to control. Zak Henry went close for Grays on 59 minutes, sliding in at the far post with an open goal but he failed to make any contact with the ball. On 63 minutes Ollie Fenn put a cross in to the box and Ollie Hughes fired goalwards but Bogard made another good stop. Bury pulled level on 72 minutes after a good spell of play from Bury and Kyran Clements leveled the game up. On 74 minutes Bury had a great chance to go in front when Cemal Ramadan put an inviting ball across the goal line beating the keeper but Bury had no one following in as the ball ran out of play. Bury were left to regret the missed opportunity as in the next attack Grays restored their lead. Bishop left the Bury defence for dead as he ran through on goal and beat Tibbles for the second time with a powerful drive into the roof of the net. Another mistake at the back from Bury let in Aron Gordon who was in on goal and put his shot past Tibbles to make it 3-1. Bury pulled a goal back on 90 minutes through Cemal Ramadan but it was too late as the final whistle went and Bury suffered another defeat despite a good performance.
