Managers post match reaction to a draw at Gardiners Close

Bury Town boss Ben Chenery was happy with his sides performance as league leaders Basildon United dropped their first points of the season at home. The Bee's had previously won all their home fixtures since their promotion from the Essex Senior League.

Ben said "We came here looking to get a result. The conditions were difficult with the wind and rain and I don't think that helped either side. I told the players about the importance of still being in the game at half time as we knew Basildon were strong at home"

"We more than played our part in the first half and had a goal ruled out for off side, but I thought we were the stronger team in the final 20 minutes and I was very pleased with our fitness as the game wore on"

"That was something we had been working on during the week with our fitness coach Blair Hammond, and we saw the benefit in that final stage of the game. We had several corners and attempts on goal and on another day we could have won it"

"After the defeat to Horsham last week we had to show some character and we did that, we now have another week to work hard in training before we face another tough test at Heybridge Swifts"

The Blues next game in the Bostik North is on Saturday 13th October when we travel to Heybridge Swifts, kick off 3pm.
