09/05/2008 - Eight Players Sign Up for 2008-09
Bury Town FC have not wasted any time in starting preparations for next season. Chairman Russell Ward and director of football Trevor Collins have both been busy securing the services of the key players.

And, they aim to bring at least three new players to the club before pre-season training gets underway.

Former Ipswich Town FC midfielder Gavin Johnson has led the way and displayed his commitment to continue to play for the Ram Meadow-based club by extending his contract before the end of the season.

Joining him in signing contracts are brothers Sam and Lee Reed and young striker Liam Barrett, who joined the Blues from Portman Road before Christmas.

Team captain Tom Bullard will continue the influence at the heart of the Town defence and he is joined by Sam Nunn, who will be looking to impress following an end of season injury which disrupted his campaign.

In midfield, Lee Smith and Michael Steward will continue their careers with the Blues.

"It has been very suceessful so far and I am pleased that we have retained the nucleus of what was a good side last season," said Collins.

The former player, and assistant to team manager Richard Wilkins, said that negotiations with striker Steve Bugg and midfielder Danny Cornwell were nearing completion.

Collins would not name the trio of new faces, but revealed that they would strengthen the team in defence and midfield.

"We have identified the players we would like to join the club and the process of negotiation is ongoing," said Collins.

"There is no need to panic at this stage as, whatever happens, we will have a strong team at the start of the season," he added.

02/05/2008 - Under 18's win League Cup
Bury Town Under 18's carried off the Brian Hitchings Cup with a hard fought victory against Welwyn Garden City, thanks to a stoppage time winner.
In an evenly contested first half, Bury took the lead after 21 minutes when John Sargent got the last touch after a goalmouth melee. The visitors equalised within a minute when Chris Stacey's attempted clearance was charged down and Elliot Charles fired into an empty net.
Bury regained the lead with virtually the last kick of the half with a great strike from 25 yards by Ben Licence, which flew into the top corner.

Half Time  Bury Town 2 Welwyn Garden City 1

Welwyn came out strongly in the second period and it came as no surprise when afte 72 minutes, the ever dangerous Elliot Charles turned on the edge of the box to beat Stacey. Bury then fought back, and got their reward in the second minute of stoppage time. A free kick on the left was headed back across goal, and Aaron Piggott rose high to head home the winner

25/04/2008 - Match Preview - Aveley FC
Bury Town go into today's crucial match at Aveley without their influential centre back and captain, Tom Bullard, due to suspension. It will probably mean that Sam Nunn will switch to the centre of defence, with Stuart Walker returning from injury to play at right back.
Bury have to win, and hope that either Canvey Island or Ware drop points, if they are to gain a play off spot. They have had a remarkable run in to get to this position, having been well off the pace two months ago.
Manager Richard Wilkins is expected to continue with the successful partnership of Sam Reed and Liam Barrett up front for this must win game. If they do get to the play offs, Bullard will still be suspended for the semi final.

21/04/2008 - BTFC Player of the Season

After the sucessful match with Northwood FC on 19 April, the BTFC Player of the Season was awarded to Gavin Johnson.

The award was made on behalf of BTFC by Ross Burch and Graham Frost.

16/04/2008 - Coach to Aveley Sold Out
The coach to Aveley for the final game of the season is now sold out and no more bookings can be taken. The coach will leave Ram Meadow at 1.00pm on Saturday 26th April.

11/04/2008 - Match Preview vs Waltham Forest
With just three games to play, Bury Town still have a realistic chance of gaining a play off place. Although they are currently two places and one point away from their goal, their run in looks to be easier than some of their rivals.
All of the other contenders have to play each other at least once, so points must be dropped. If Bury do win their remaining matches, they must have a very good chance of making it.
For Saturday`s match against a struggling Waltham Forest, manager Richard Wilkins should have the same squad available that beat Canvey Island last week. Stuart Walker is unlikely to play again this season, and Liam Barrett is still struggling with a dead leg, but could be on the bench.
This game will be played at Witham Town`s ground due to a lease problem at Waltham Forest.

28/03/2008 - Venue change for Forest match

Bury Town FC's Ryman League Division One North match against Waltham Forest on 12th April 2008 has been moved from Wadham Lodge to Witham Town FC, Spa Road, Witham. This is due to the fact that Waltham Forest's lease on the Wadham Lodge ground has expired and is not being extended, therefore Forest's remaninign two home matches will be played at Spa Road. Waltham Forest must find a new venue for their matches next season after 13 years at Wadham Lodge.

28/03/2008 - Match Preview vs Waltham Abbey
A pitch inspection will decide if Bury Town's match at Waltham Abbey will go ahead on Saturday. They will be hoping to continue their late surge towards a play off place against a side who have been struggling recently.
Bury`s confidence should be high following two wins, including a victory over AFC Sudbury, over the Easter period. Manager Richard Wilkins will probably be without Scott Chaplin, who has a hamstring problem, but should welcome back Michael Steward  after injury. Otherwise he will have the same squad that has taken his side to within two points of the all important fifth place, and with a slightly better goal difference than the teams immediately above them.
