Preview: Bury Town travel to Bostik South side Ramsgate on Saturday looking to make progress in the FA Trophy, on the back of a 4-2 win over Hertford Town that pushed the Blues back into the Bostik North play off zone. Our opponents sit 18th in the South Division table having lost 5 of their 9 games so far this season, but they also recorded a win on Tuesday evening as they defeated Faversham Town 3-2.
The Blues record against teams in the South Division has been very good in recent years, having defeated Sittingbourne, Faversham and Herne Bay all in the FA Trophy in the past couple of seasons.
Manager Ben Chenery will be keen to welcome back Ollie Hughes and Leon Ottley-Gooch to the team, as both players missed the midweek home victory over Hertford Town, but striker Darren Mills will miss the game through suspension after picking up 2 yellow cards in the 0-1 defeat at Canvey Island last weekend. Darcy De`ath is still out with the long term ankle injury that he picked up at Norwich United in early September, but youngster Tommy Robinson could be in the squad after impressing when he came off the substitutes bench on Tuesday.
The furthest Bury Town have progressed in the FA Trophy was in the 1970-71 season when they progressed to the Second Round before losing at Hereford United`s Edgar Street ground. Ramsgate have reached the 3rd Qualifying Round on a few occasions but have never made it past that stage.
