Ryman Division 1 North
28.01.2017 at 15:00 - Ram Meadow
Match updates will appear here from 3.00pm, you can also follow live match updates on our official Twitter account @BuryTownFC with team details released from 2.15pm:
It has been a frustrating few weeks for Bury Town after their away matches with both Ware and Aveley were victims of frozen pitches, leaving the Blues without a game for over 2 weeks ahead of Saturday`s visit of Norwich United to Ram Meadow, kicking off at 3:00pm. 3 victories on the bounce were followed by 2 disappointing away defeats at Cheshunt and AFC Hornchurch, and Ben Chenery`s side have not been given the chance to put things right with this period of inactivity.
Norwich United will be the third Norfolk side in a row to visit Ram Meadow, and the home fans will be hoping for a similar result as the Blues last two home matches saw them defeat Wroxham 6-1 and Dereham Town 2-1 just after Christmas. The Planters are in their first ever season in the Ryman League, which will be known by a different name next season after Ryman ended their 20 year association with the Isthmian League, and have so far performed well, sitting just 3 points behind ourselves going into the match at Ram Meadow on Saturday.
The two sides met earlier this season at Plantation Park and the home side caught us out early on with 2 quick fire goals that killed the game and set the tone for the rest of the match, the home side scoring once more without reply, however the club were then found to have been guilty of fielding an ineligible player and were subsequently docked the three points they picked up leaving both sides pointless from the match!
The two sides have met on 10 occasions previously and the sides have shared the spoils with 5 wins each, so something must give at Ram Meadow on Saturday afternoon. Ollie Hughes and Leon-Ottley-Gooch should have recovered from the injuries that kept them out of our last fixture at Hornchurch but long term absentee Ollie Canfer remains out of action with a back injury.
