Match Preview:
Bury Town are back at the Frames Conservatories Direct Ram Meadow Stadium tomorrow as they welcome Maldon & Tiptree for the first ever league match between the two sides. The Blues have met the former Maldon Town and Tiptree United under their old separate identities before, but this will be the first league match since the two clubs merged in 2010. There was one previous Ryman League Cup meeting between the sides in 2012/13 which Bury won 3-0 at Park Drive in Maldon.
The Blues go into the match 5 points ahead of the visitors having played the same amount of games. Maldon & Tiptree have recenently seen a change of manager with Steve Ball taking over from David Wright who has been appointed assistant manager to Kevin Keen at Colchester United. Ball, like his predecessor Wright, also works for Colchester United in their academy, with Maldon having a formal link with United, with a number of Colchester academy players also turning out in the Ryman League for the Park Drive side. They list in their ranks two former Bury Town players who spent time on loan at Ram Meadow from Colchester United, with defender Billy Roast and striker Nnamdi Nwachuku currently at Maldon.
The Essex side go into Saturday`s match on the back of just one game so far in 2016, a 2-1 win at their local rivals Heybridge Swifts on 2nd January. There other scheduled fixtures have all been postponed.
Bury go into the game on the back of a blank week as Tuesday`s home match with Thurrock was postponed due to a frozen pitch, but this have given the chance for a couple of injuries to clear up ahead of the game, that were picked up during last weeks 2-0 defeat at Harlow Town. Cemal Ramadan`s loan period at Ram Meadow from the Ipswich Town academy has ended and the striker who scored 3 goals during his time with the club has returned to Playford Road.
In their last outing at The Ram, Bury hit Haringey Borough for 5 to gain their first victory of 2016, and Ben Chenery will be hoping his side can rediscover that form to collect another three points to push his side back into play off contention.
