Bury Town`s defensive fragility cost them again.

Bury Town`s poor defensive record was to cost them again. Bury Town needed a win to keep the pressure on these around them in the league but it was not to be. A succession of corners for Bury early on from Ryan Jolland saw Cemal Ramadan at the far post on 5 minutes but shot wide. Ricky Spriggs got on the end of another corner a minutes later but headed high over the bar. A quick break from Maldon on 8 minutes saw Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe hit a stunning strike which smashed against the Bury crossbar. Bury Returnee Tevan Allen put a throw in to the feet of Ramadan on the edge of the box on 24 minutes but Ramadan missed the target. A slick move from Maldon on 29 minutes started by Nicholas Akoto out wide and finding Harry Morgan who powered up field and found Emmanuel Udoji in on goal but he put his shot wide. 0n 33 minutes another shot from Ramadan went high and wide after a good spell of build up play from Bury. The Blues best chance of the half came on 35 minutes when Darren Mills whipped in a dangerous ball in to the box and Ollie Hughes hit a bullet header from inside the 6-yard box and Dominic Kurasik made the save of the game with a superb save. Late chances in the half both fell to the visitors with Kieron Bailey letting flew with a powerful shot on 36 minutes which went just over the bar. Bailey then put a venomous free kick just too high on 41 minutes.

After a fairly even first half the game continued in the same manner. Akoto got around the back of the Bury defence on 47 minutes but his shot was blocked inside the box. 2 minutes later is was Ogedi-Uzokwe in to goal for Maldon but Luis Tibble made the save. Ollie Hughes broke down the wing for Bury on 54 minutes and put in a decent cross for Mills in the box but with Mills leaning back to reach it could not direct his header on target. Maldon were awarded a penalty on 57 minutes which was dispatched with ease my Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe. Bury kept going searching for the equalizer and did manage to pull the goal back on 66 minutes. Ryan Jolland put in a beautiful cross for Ricky Spriggs to thump home with a powerful header. Bury were pushing forward to try and get a head but on 77 minutes more calamitous defending gifted Keiron Bailey an easy goal. Bury went close on 82 minutes when Ollie Hughes put a cross in for Allen at the far post but Allen’s shot was deflected wide. Maldon went on to win the game for the visitors but not before Dexter Peter saw red for Maldon after he squared up to the Referee and after shouting in the referee`s face he left the official no choice but to show him a straight red.
