Match report
Two goals in as many minutes towards the end of the first half were the highlights of what was otherwise a dour struggle with few clear chances at either end. It means that Bury Town now need at least a point from their final game next week if they are to make the play offs.
In an even opening period most of the play was confined to the midfield area although Sam Reed with a header and Billy Clark, with an angled drive both brought saves from Andy Walker.
Cray then gained more of the possession and came close to opening the scoring in a melee after Bury had given the ball away in defence. Danny Phillips then shot narrowly wide as Cray continued to press.
It was Bury however who broke the deadlock on 36 minutes. A perfectly weighted pass from Lee Reed found Lee Smith who ran on to fire into the roof of the net, giving Waker no chance.
The lead proved to be very short lived, as in the next minute James Darvill’s cross shot was parried by Marcus Garnham and the ball fell for Lewis Perkins who made no mistake from 10 yards.
In the closing minutes of the half Garnham denied Perkins a second goal with a fine save.

Both sides went close in a lively start to the second period, but it was the visitors who were having more of the play and Bury were relying on breaks out of defence.
Bury then had a better spell but were unable to trouble Walker, and their only real chance was blasted over the bar by John Sands as he ran clear of the Cray defence.
At the other end Bury were thankful to Garnham for a brilliant tip over to prevent a Mark Coulson own goal.
