Match report
Bury Town lose ground as Dereham snatch an away win

Bury Town struggled to find their game as the visitors gave the Blues a tough evening. Dereham were well organised and all over the pitch and gave Bury little to chase first half. Dereham wasted no time pressing forward and on 9 minutes their early pressure paid of as they forced a foul in the box and won a penalty. Daniel Beaumont put the ball on the spot but Bury Town’s in form keeper Luis Tibbles made a great save to keep the game level. Jake Anema went on a run for Dereham on 12 minutes. Getting a low shot away but Tibbles was down quick to smother the ball. Bury had a half chance on 15 minutes when a loose ball fell kindly for Darren Mills on the edge of the box but his control let him down as the defence made the clearance. On 23 minutes Dereham were in the Bury box again. Rhys Logan showing some skill to get around the back of the Bury back line but the clearance was eventual made close to goal. Bury went close on 30 minutes with Luke Read putting a ball in for Mills but Elliot Pride read it well and was out to collect before Mills could strike. On 35 minutes Mill fired the ball past the keeper and in to the back of the net but a very close offside flag cut short the celebrations. Close to the end of the half Dereham should have been in front when another good attack found Beaumont in the box but his strike from close range went high over the bar.

Second half Bury stepped up a gear and on 49 minutes a blistering shot from Mills stung the hands of the keeper as he made the save at full stretch. Bradley Barber put a dangerous free kick in to the box on 56 minutes but the Dereham defence stood strong and headed clear. A superb double save from Tibbles on 59 minutes denied Dereham the opening goal. Dereham went ahead on 62 minutes when defensive errors let in Joe Gatting and his soft strike was enough to bounce over the leg of the defender on the line. Another Barber free kick on 65 minutes had Pride reaching to tip the ball over the bar. Joe White whipped a good ball in to the box for Read on 68 minutes but Read’s back header went a foot wide of the far post. Ollie Canfer had a chance for Bury on 84 minutes but blasted his shot from close range high over the bar. Try as they may Bury could not get the equalizer. Late chances from Bury saw White put another good ball in for Read but Read had strayed offside. Mills also blasted a shot well wide on 89 minutes. Dereham impressed throughout the game and ran out worthy winner at the final whistle.
