Bury Town throw away a two-goal lead and have to settle for a point

An injury time goal from Gareth Price denied Blues from taking all the points and gave Ware a share of the points to help their fight for survival at the bottom of the table. Bury had their first chance straight from the kick off with Darcy Death putting a long throw in on the head of Leon Ottley-Gooch who headed over the bar. On 7 minutes Josh Mayhew sent a curling effort on target for Bury but Darren Behcet made a good save. A minute later Ollie Hughes won the ball from a block on Behcet and was in on the empty goal but his header was cleared off the goal line. Luke Read had another chance for Bury on 19 minutes after Ryan Jolland put a good pass in to the box but Read’s soft spinning shot was an easy catch for the keeper. Ware had a good chance on 21 minutes when Bradley Woods-Garness broke through the defence and hit a low strike which went inches wide of the foot of the near post. Bury took the lead on 27 minutes when Jolland got down the wing and put his cross in for Hughes for head past the keeper. Bradley Barber hit a stunning volley from outside the box on 37 minutes which ended up in the far top corner of the net only for the linesman to rule offside leaving everyone astonished at the decision as the ball went straight in. Gareth Price broke through on goal for Ware on 45 minutes but Bury keeper Neil O’Sullivan rushed out to push him wide and the ball was cleared by the defence.

Bury wasted no time going on the attack after the break and went 2-0 up on 49 minutes. a long throw in for Darcy Death was half cleared and Ollie Hughes fired home his and Bury’s second goal. on 56 minutes Bradley Barber won the ball in midfield and set up Ryan Jolland who shot wide. on 69 minutes a corner from Ware saw Gareth Price hit a shot straight at O’Sullivan who made the save. Bury had a chance to extend their lead on 74 minutes when Jolland played Josh Mayhew through on goal but with just the keeper to beat Mayhew’s effort was too close to the keeper who made an easy save. Ware were getting more of the play in the second half and on 76 minutes were awarded a penalty after O’Sullivan went through Price to get the ball and Murat Karagul scored from the spot. The goal lifted Ware and they finished the game the stronger side. Jolland set up another chance for Bury on 80 minutes beating two defenders and putting a cross in to Luke Read but he shot high and wide. Barber worked the ball into the box on 84 minutes but shot wide. Bury were hanging on at the end and kept giving the ball away and on 95 minutes paid the price as Gareth Price got to a poor clearance and pulled Ware level with a shot from close range. Ware snatched a point at the final whistle to help in their fight at the foot of the table and Bury suffer another disappointing result.
