Match report
Bury Town continue their poor run of form as Witham take the win

Bury Town’s poor form continues with Witham taking a comfortable win. With just two wins in 8 games Blues are losing their momentum at the top end of the table. Bury started well and on 4 minutes Sam Reed broke down the wing and crossed in the box for Ollie Hughes but the defence cleared the ball before Hughes could get his header away. On 14 minutes Luke Read had a headed effort saved by the keeper. Witham grew in to the game and were soon creating chances of their own. On 16 minutes Ryan Charles worked the ball up field through the Bury midfield and defence to open a chance for himself only to hit his strike high over the bar. Scott Kemp powered down the wing un challenged on 26 minutes and found John Watson with a good cross but Watson again fired his strike high over the bar. Witham were pressing Bury back and on 28 minutes got themselves in front. With the Bury keeper Neil O’Sullivan coming out to the edge of his box out wide to clear the ball Osman Adeniji beat him to the ball and played the perfect chip over the stranded keeper and in to the back of the empty net. Bury were gifted a goal just before the break on 42 minutes when a cross deep in to the box was missed by the defence and Ollie Hughes was on hand to tap in from close range.

Second half was just like the first with Bury starting well but fading as the half went on. On 49 minutes Hughes got down the wing and crossed in to Josh Mayhew who turned in on goal only to fire his shot straight at the keeper. Remi Garrett hit a free kick inches wide of the far post from out wide on 543 minutes. Tom Debenham headed over from inside the six-yard box on 61 minutes after another good free kick from Garrett. Witham closed Bury down well and fought for every ball and on 72 minutes made their pressure count. Poor Bury defending allowed a cross in from the by line for Substitute Ryan Imbert to put Witham back in front. Bury struggled to get forward as Witham worked well as a team and on 82 minutes sealed the win with a third goal. Adeniji took advantage of more confusion at the back from Bury and put the game beyond the Blues. Bury had a late chance to pull a goal but with Tom Debenham heading straight at the keeper from a corner. Witham ran out comfortable winners at the final whistle, as for Bury their poor run of form recently has taken the pressure off those teams around them fighting for a top six place.
