Bury Town miss out on a chance to extend their lead at the top
Blues let an opportunity to extend their lead at the top slip by as VCD took the win and the three points. An even start from both teams saw Bury with the first good chance on 8 minutes when a high ball over the defence found Noel Aitken in the box but Aitkens could not get his shot away before the defence cleared the ball. Two minutes later a free kick from the visitors was perfect for Becka-Kah Dembelle in the box close to goal but he headed wide. Bradley Barber went close for Bury on 18 minutes hitting a powerful free kick towards the far post from distance which tested the keeper to pull off a great save. On 26 minutes Dembeleâ€™s headed effort for VCD from a corner was saved well by Bury keeper Neil Oâ€™Sullivan from close range. VCD put themselves in front on 34 minutes. a thumping strike was saved well by Oâ€™Sullivan but the block save fell to the feet of Gregory Akpele who could not miss in the open goal. Darcy Death almost equalized for Blues on 37 minutes heading inches over the bar from a corner. another good chance for Bury came on 44 minutes again from a corner but Tom Debenham headed over from close to the goal.

Bury Wasted no time after the break and were soon level. On 47 minutes Bradley Barber put a corner in to the box and Luke Read fired Bury level. VCD hit back on 53 minutes, a deep cross found Connor Hogan unmarked on the far side of the box and his strike beat Oâ€™Sullivan to give the visitor back the lead. VCD had a chance to increase their lead on 60 minutes with Akpele breaking across the pitch but putting his shot wide of the far post. Bury Substitute Sam Reed hit a shot from distance on 69 minutes which had the keeper diving to save. Josh Mayhew broke down the center on 74 minutes but miss hit his strike which went wide. shortly after Remi Garrett tested the keeper with another well hit strike from Bury but again the keeper made the save. Blues last chance to grab a point came on 80 minutes Sam Reed put a good cross in to Mayhew but his header was an easy catch for the keeper. VCD took the win and Bury missed and drop down to second place in the Ryman Division 1 North.
