Another defeat sees Bury drop further down the league table

Bury Town’s lack of goals and slip ups at the back at present cost them another defeat as they missed chances to win this game. Bury broke quickly on 4 minutes with Remi Garrett down the wing but his cross in to the box couldn’t find Ollie Hughes and Josh Mayhew who were waiting to strike. Phoenix had a chance 3 minutes later with Jack Parry going forward from deep and finding Michael Power who put Dajon Golding through on goal but his shot went high over the bar. Hughes got down the wing for Blues on 14 minutes but his cross could not find a team mate. Hughes got through again on 26 minutes down the wing but his cross in was quickly intercepted by Phoenix keeper Steve Philips. Luke Read scuffed a shot inside the box after Josh Mayhew broke down the wing to find him with a great cross on 35 minutes. Remi Garrett put a dangerous ball in to the six-yard box on 37 minutes but Barry headed clear. Ollie Hughes turned provider for Mayhew just before the break with a determined move through the defence and down the wing and put a perfect ball across the face of goal for Mayhew but Mayhew could not make contact with the ball.

Phoenix took the lead early in the second half when Michael Power scored a great solo goal. Power picked up the ball out wide worked his way across the pitch and beat the Bury keeper with a low strike from distance on 47 minutes. Bury responded 2 minutes later when Josh Mayhew got to a long ball and chipped the keeper but the ball went an inch wide of the far post. Bury Captain Bradley Barber handled in the box to give Power his second from the spot on 53 minutes. Barber then saw red for a second yellow for a dangerous tackle. 10 man Bury kept pushing trying to get back in the game. on 67 minutes Luke Read got on the end of a cross in the six-yard box but the defence was quick to get the ball clear. Bury Substitute Darcy Death hit a ball over the defence but was just to long for Ollie Hughes to head home on 78 minutes. a quick break up field by the visitors saw a great stop by Bury’s Andrew Cusack who cleared of the goal line. Bury got a goal back when Luke Read’s low shot beat the keeper and slotted in to the bottom corner. with 5 minutes to go Bury were dominant but failed to find an equalizer. Kyran Clements had a chance in injury time but headed the wrong side of the post. Phoenix to the win to leap frog Bury in the league and Bury had to suffer their fifth defeat in a row.
